Things to Consider

The more you plan your move, the easier and more successful it will be.  Picking up your entire life and relocating is no easy feat, and can feel like a daunting and overwhelming task.  It's a big deal to figure out how you will adapt to a new job, culture and community.  If you have children, helping them adapt and transition makes it more complicated.  Add to that the ins and outs of moving, insurance, container loads, vehicle importation, customs, taxes and so on, it's enough to boggle your mind completely.  We know you have a lot on your plate, and we're here to help you.  While we can't help you choose the right school or neighborhood for your family, we can certainly help you pick the right insurance, plan your timeframes with you, help you with all the required paperwork, alleviate your worries when it comes to customs, tax, insurance and so on.  It might be a new process for you, but it's just another day for us.  Moving to Brazil is part of daily work, and we know all the ins and outs to make it easy for you.

The first thing you should try and figure out is your time frame.  The easiest way to do this is to work backwards.  What day do you need to be at your new job, in your new residence etc?  Once you have that, we can work backwards and put all the pieces together for you, so that you achieve your goal.  Shipping by sea can take longer than some expect, especially if you are sharing a container.  We make sure there are no surprises and let you know exactly what time frames you're looking at.

Deciding what you are taking with you is another big one.  Don't just think about it.  Keep a running list on your phone, your computer or your pinboard and add to it all the time.  You are going to need this for insurance anyway, so the sooner you get started, the better.  On entering Brazil, you'll be permitted items without tax according to your status.  Are you a returning resident?  Are you a new immigrant?  Make sure you know what you're permitted to bring in before deciding what to take.  We can certainly help you with this.

Keep in mind that all household goods and personal effects must arrive within 12 months after you arrive, or up to six months before your arrival in order to clear Customs.

Once you've figured out what you're taking, you'll know if you will need an FCL or an LCL.  An FCL is a full container load which will typically holds a 3 bedroom house.  An LCL is less than a container load, which is very convenient for smaller shipments.  You will share a container with other customers this way.

Packing items securely is essential in any move, whether it's local or international. The better you pack, the less chance you'll have of damage.  If you're packing your own items, we'll guide you on how to do the best job.  For bigger items, we wrap professionally and securely.  Your furniture, TV's, appliances and so on will be completely protected and secure.  We provide custom crating, and while some customers might need this, others might not, and we'll guide you according to the items you're taking.
